It has certainly made a splash in the Internet mailing lists, Internet Relay Chat channels, and on lots of Web sites. This may be partly because Dungeon Keeper has taken so long to arrive.

CHESSMASTER 5000 is the newest in the line of Chessmaster titles that started in 1986 with Chessmaster 2000. This version is designed for Windows 95, and has a new 32-bit engine.
Whether you’re already a bit of a gun at chess, or someone (like me) who knows the rules but not much else, Chessmaster 5000 has a lot to offer you. With artificial intelligence that can be set from novice to champion, you can expect a real challenge.
Chessmaster 5000 has all the features you expect in a modern computer chess package. There are 23 different chess sets to use, including Mycenaean, Roman and Latin American. The chessboard is customisable too, and you can view it in flat 2D or 3D.

Sometimes though, the terrorist situation becomes too tough for the police, whether this is because of the political implications, hostages, or whatever. Then the Anti-Terrorist Divisions are called in. Skilled in negotiation techniques, siege psychology, and of-course armed and unarmed combat, the Anti-Terrorist Squads have specialized hardware at their disposal, ranging from gas grenades to surveillance equipment.
Variation: For an exciting classroom simulation in which students work in groups under deadline pressure to produce the front page of a newspaper, order The Deadline Game .
In Deadline, you are the commander of one of these crack anti-terrorist teams. It is up to you to plan and execute successful conclusions to terrorist sieges.

MICROSOFT recently had their annual games launch in Auckland. It was a fun day, and great to have a chat with Bruce Shelley, co-creator of Civilization, and the man behind Age of Empires and the upcoming Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings.
Pandora’s Box isn’t one of Mr Shelley’s games, but its designer is almost as famous. Alexey Pajitnov was responsible for the Tetris games, which have probably been responsible for more downtime since Rubik’s Cube. He has now come up with Pandora’s Box, which is packed full with puzzles.

The story behind Pandora’s Box is that seven mythical tricksters have escaped from the box, and it is up to you to return them to captivity. To do this you must solve the puzzles they solve – all 350 of them.
