I ALWAYS enjoy reviewing soccer management games. Must be all those wasted Sunday afternoons spent watching Big League Soccer. Luckily for me, these games abound for the personal computer.
One of the newest is FIFA Soccer Manager. Electronic Arts have had the FIFA license for a few years, but this is their first management game. The other FIFA games have been arcade soccer games; speaking of which, FIFA: Road to World Cup ‘98 looks pretty good. I imagine that New Zealand is one of the 172 countries featured, all trying to qualify for the ‘98 finals.

THE original Need For Speed and the follow-up special edition are still popular driving games, and Need For Speed 2 is sure to be a winner.
It comes with eight new supercars – the Ferrari F50, Lotus GT1, Jaguar XJ220, Ford GT90, Isdera Commendatore 112I, Italdesign Cala, Lotus Esprit V8, and the truly awesome McLaren F1. If, like me, you haven’t even heard of half of these cars, don’t worry; each is showcased with a spoken commentary and video detailing all you could wish to know.

Need For Speed - 2 (Special Edition)
Need For Speed 2 comes with six tracks, including a simple oval test track, a Himalayan mountain climb, Mediterranean village run, and a whizz through the Aussie outback.

GREMLIN have been making some great sports games for a while now. Their golf and soccer games are both into their second generations.
Actua Golf 2 is a great golf game. Gremlin seems to have included everything you could think of for a golf game.
The graphics are superb, with support for 3Dfx and PowerVR chips, as well as general Direct3D for other 3D cards. This is one game where I used my Apocalypse5D PowerVR card rather than the Orchid Righteous 3Dfx – the visuals just looked clearer and crisper.

IF the idea of racing down the side of a mountain at 90 miles per hour while balancing on two narrow planks, bouncing over snow and ice, hurtling through the air, and invariably falling spectacularly several times doesn’t scare you, then Ski Racing probably isn’t your sort of game – no doubt you’ve done it all before.

Alpine Ski Racer Simulator - Rental Your guests will have a blast when they put their feet into this skiing simulation. The player controls all the action by leaning into the skis just like real life.
For those of us who aren’t natural-born skiers – I prefer a good toboggan myself – this game is about as close as we’re likely to get.
